Hold On, I’m Coming – Clapton & B.B.

Song: Hold on, I’m Coming
Artists: Eric Clapton & B.B. King
Album: Riding With the King

This album absolutely falls into my top favorites. Two guitar gods playing the blues together, welcome to heaven. A funny anecdote, while David Porter (songwriter/producer) was in the bathroom, his partner Isaac Hayes yelled at him to hurry up because they hadn’t gotten much work done that day. Porter’s reply was, “hold on, I’m coming!” and the song was born. Not exactly where you would have expected a song like this to have it’s roots, but the truth none the less. This song was originally performed by Sam & Dave in the late 60’s for Stax Records. Sam & Dave also served as the basis for John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd’s characters Jake & Elroy in one of the best movies ever, The Blues Brothers. Of course Clapton and B.B. do it more than justice, and they didn’t have to be on a mission from god to do it 😉 . This song always gives me the inspiration to keep moving on, no matter what life throws my way, I know I have people in my corner.
